 Installation Guide for Maxzara Engineered Wood Flooring T&G

1.Inspection Responsibility

Check every board carefully before installation for any manufacturing blemishes. Claims regarding product defects cannot be considered after installation. Wood flooring is not suitable for installations in wet rooms such as bathrooms, saunas or in similar rooms.

2.Site Conditions

Before installing wood flooring , there are the following points to consider:

Check the moisture content of the screed with a moisture       meter

* standard moisture content < 2.5%

* with cement screed       < 2.0%

* with an anhydrite screed  < 0.5%

Check the relative humidity (between 40-60%) and temperature (13-20°C) in the      room.

Check the moisture content of the boards (between 8-12%)

• Check the evenness of the substrate and level where needed.

• Check the cleanness of the sub floor

3.Installation Preparations

• Before starting the installation, the flooring has to be brought into the room where it will be installed or in a room with the same climate condition. The acclimatization will be carried out as following: in sealed unopened boxes for a time period of at least 7 days.

Determine the installation direction: Wood flooring looks its best when the wood flooring panels are installed parallel to the light coming in through the windows.

• To achieve  a uniform effect, mix floor planks from different packages. Since wood is a natural product, Its structure and colour can vary.

• Determine the number of plank widths: After determining the best layout of the flooring and the starting wall, measure the width of the room and divide it by the width of the solid flooring panels to determine the number of rows and the width of the last row. If width of the last row is determined to be less than 1/3 of the whole plank width, it should be adjusted by cutting the first row lengthwise.

1.Nail-down Installation

Battens must be well steady and attached to concrete or wooden boards or panel.

Verify the most suitable wall for starting the laying.

Nail preferably on the tongue.

Use nails no smaller than 35 - 40 mm.

Nail must be driven at 45 degrees.

Suitable nail driver needed.

Leave on the room’s perimeter empty spaces with a width suitable to the components’ thickness (Min. 15 mm.).

Remove eventual wedges from the perimeter if used during the laying.

2.Glue-down Installation

Construction and expansion joints in the screed must be taken up in the flooring. Use a reducer profile at these points.

The expansion joint for a glued installation of engineered parquet is +/-10mm.

• Glue should be allowed to reach room temperature before application.

• Apply the adhesive to the surface of the subfloor using a glue comb. Do not apply more than can be covered with parquet in 30 minutes.

• Slide the parquet onto the adhesive layer and tap into place or tamp down with a rubber hammer. If necessary, place werights on the parquet. Remove glue residue immediately with a slightly damp cloth?
